Dejinta Beesha (Multi service Centre) is a non- profit service agency that has been assisting immigrants and refugees in the GTA since 1994
Dejinta Beesha was launched in 1994 as a community project by a coalition of Somali Organizations in Etobicoke.
On Federal, Municipal and Provincial levels there was a shared vision amongst agencies for the future of the Somali community, one that sought to achieve additional services for the Somali community living in Etobicoke. Metro Community Services was one of the initial working groups that established the Centre. Dejinta Beesha was officially incorporated on October 21, 1999. DB is governed by a Board of Directors elected annually by the community members at the annual general meeting. The Executive of Directors administers the Centre with professionally trained and dedicated staff. Membership is open to Canadians of Somali origin as well as Canadians interested in the Somali Culture.
Since its inception in 1994, Dejinta Beesha has been offering services free of charge to the community and in the process garnered substantial experience in the delivery of community services.
Dejinta Beesha (Multi-Service Centre) is one of the main organizations that provide quality settlement services to the new immigrants in Toronto Ontario.
The Centre aims to enhance the development of the community through several services. For instance, settlement assistance, public education, community capacity building, mentorship programs provided at schools like after- school programs for children and youth concentrating on areas like homework, school projects, and recreation those are just some of the services Dejinta Beesha initiates and participates in. These programs are particularly targeted towards newcomer children and youth in the school system.
While our efforts are aimed at the East African Community our services are open to everyone and are free of charge to all other immigrant and refugee communities in Toronto.
Dejinta is thankful and proud to acknowledge the support of our funders, partners, clients, board of directors, management, staff and volunteers for their dedication and effort to making a difference in the life of our community.
